Sonour Esmaeili

Sonour Esmaeili holds a PhD in Education from Monash University. She completed her PhD in 2025 and her doctoral research focused on developing culturally responsive online learning environments with a particular focus on the intellectual development of students in higher education through a cultural-historical lens. One of the main findings of her study was the proposal of strategies to support teachers in creating culturally responsive spaces that foster intellectual development in higher education. Sonour’s greatest passion is teaching, specifically within the higher education sector. She has more than a decade of teaching experience in higher education, including roles at Monash University, the Australian Catholic University, Monash College, and several universities in Iran. She is currently an academic staff member at Monash University and an ELICOS teacher at Monash College. Her research interests include cultural-historical theory, online learning, cultural diversity, intellectual development, flipped teaching, and metadiscourse.
